I am an illustrator , artist and high school art teacher residing in the picturesque Chester County, PA during the school year and the majestic Martha's Vineyard in the summers. My love of animals and nature is reflected in my work. My husband and I love hiking and studying the indigenous wildlife. I have a creative son and two dogs. I have a particular fondness for ancient Celtic culture and art. I did my thesis on the Celtic Art Revival and studied in Scotland at Edinburgh College of Art And later trained through the Royal Botanic Gardens illustration department. I started my art business in 2001 an named it Luna Blue after my beloved chocolate lab. In the early years I was focusing on my metalsmithing. After my son was born my art time was limited and I went back to my first creative loves, painting and pastels. You may now find me working in any one of these mediums. I paint weekly and welcome commissions. I was born in Chester County. While I was still in high school, I received scholarships to, attended Moore College of Art during the weekends, and attended Syracuse University during the summer of my junior high school year. I earned my BFA from Maine College of Art (MECA) in 1996. I created and participated in MECA’s first student exchange program and spent a semester at Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland. While residing in Maine, I took several classes at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. I started Luna Blue (named after my chocolate lab) in 1999. In 2001, I had my first solo painting show. In 2007, I opened a store in Ephreta, PA. In 2009 I went back to school to earn my post-baccalaureate in Art Education from Moore College of Art and my masters from Immaculata University. I currently teach high school art at PA Leadership Charter School and spends my summers painting on Martha’s Vineyard
My Grandfather, Robert Godfreid Chaunce, was an artist and some of my earliest memories were of sitting in his studio and watching him work. My brother and I had our earliest art lessons from our Grandfather. When he passed away, I inherited his old watercolor painting pallet which I still use today. I went on to study art at Syracuse
My Grandfather, Robert Godfreid Chaunce, was an artist and some of my earliest memories were of sitting in his studio and watching him work. My brother and I had our earliest art lessons from our Grandfather. When he passed away, I inherited his old watercolor painting pallet which I still use today. I went on to study art at Syracuse University (pre-college), Maine College of Art (BFA), Edinburgh College of Art (exchange student), Haystack Mountain School School of Crafts, University of the Arts (MFA) and Moore college of Art (post baccalaureate). As you can tell, I love to learn as much as I love to teach and have been continuously studying the arts since my adolescent years in the late 1980's. I started my business and sold my art in retail and wholesale art show circuits eventually opening a small store named...yes, Luna Blue. In 2009 I earned my post baccalaureate in Art Education from Moore College of Art and am currently pursuing my masters at The University of the Arts and studying under the master painter Eva Cincotta. I have been teaching art out of my home studio, through local art association and at a lovely charter school (first in elementary and later in the high school level). I truly love teaching and creating art. I have worked in just about every medium from glass blowing to photography. My vast experience with mediums really makes teaching art a perfect profession.
